Mayor Unloads on Reporter for Asking ‘Dumbass, Ridiculous Question’ Right After Shooting

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott tore into a reporter on Wednesday night at the scene of a mass shooting, telling FOX45’s Keith Daniels, “I knew that you were gonna ask some dumbass, ridiculous question tonight.”

According to Baltimore police, the shooting left seven injured outside Douglass Homes in East Baltimore, including a three-year-old boy.

During the mayor’s press conference, as he was flanked by law enforcement, Daniels asked, “You are obviously verbally and otherwise disturbed by this, with the comments that you are making and so forth. You’ve made those comments before, but it doesn’t really seem to be making a difference, does it?”

The FOX45 reporter appeared to be referring to Scott’s harsh words for the crime’s perpetrators, which included, “If this is your son, drag his ass by his hair down to the police department,” and “everybody in the godd*mn city should be looking for you.”

“Keith, I knew that you were gonna ask some dumbass ridiculous question tonight,” Scott said, as Daniels attempted to push back. “It is. A three-year-old was shot, right? You and I could sit here and talk about this. If this was your three-year-old, you would want everyone to be upset, right? You would want people to — ”

Daniels again tried to interject.

“You want to interview, or you want to talk?” the mayor clapped back. “I’m worried about a three-year-old child being shot. You’re worried about perception and some stories you’ve gotten. The only thing that matters to me is the life that we’re talking about that’s being fought for in a hospital in Baltimore, right? This is what I say to you all the time. This is why I say to you guys every week that I’m not out here celebrating that we have the lowest amount of violence that this city has ever seen, because it’s still too much.”

Scott’s screed continued:

One is too damn many for me, Keith. That’s why I’m not happy. I’ll never be happy. I’ll die unhappy if we still have violence at all because we all should want it to be none. Yes, having a 50-year low is great. That’s a great thing for us to acknowledge, but it does not matter right now to a three-year-old who doesn’t understand why they’re in that much pain. That’s what I’m trying to get you to understand.
