Trump Blames Media for Taking ‘Words of Mine Out of Context’

Speaking Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, Donald Trump blamed the media for “tak[ing] words of mine out of context” and plumbing them for “hidden meaning” rather than focussing on real issues.

The media, he said, “doesn’t cover what really matters in this country or what’s really going on in people’s lives.”

“They will take words of mine out of context and spend a week obsessing over every single syllable and then pretend to discover some hidden meaning in what I said,” he continued.

Earlier in the speech, he had expressed “regret” for saying “the wrong things,” though did not offer specific examples.
